SMI Auto Insurance
It’s time to get an auto insurance rate based on what matters — how good of a driver you are. Whether you are 18, 45, or 80 years old, you can get car insurance based solely on your driving record from SMI. That means you could save yourself a few bucks (or more) every year.

How SMI auto insurance works
As a Manitoba resident, you’ll still need to get your basic car insurance coverage from MPI, but you can get your extra bits (extensions) from our neighbours in Saskatchewan. Unlike MPI, SMI bases its car insurance rates on your driving record — that’s it. So, no matter how old you are or what car you drive, you are offered a rate based on your driving history.
For any extensions you get from SMI (like a lower deductible, increased liability coverage, or loss of use protection), you’ll be only charged based on your driving record.

What if I need to make a claim?
Although having coverage from two agencies may seem complicated, it isn’t. Plus, you have Brio Insurance on your side.
If you get in an accident and need to make a claim, please give us a call. We’ll help you make the SMI portion of your claim and guide you through the process. When we say “no worries under our wing”, we mean it.
“Sending a big shout out to both Bev and Andrea from the Brio Steinbach office for helping me with my SMI claim! I was having a bit of trouble with the autobody shop, but Brio Insurance stepped up and took the initiative to ensure everything got set up for my rental vehicle and repair claim. Much appreciated!” – Vanessa, Brio Insurance client
