To help you out below is a comparison to show the difference between life insurance from Brio Insurance and insurance from a mortgage lender.

LIFE INSURANCE FROM BRIO

INSURANCE FROM A
MORTGAGE LENDER

TYPE OF LIFE INSURANCE

Term or permanent. Decreasing term.

PREMIUM

Rates are guaranteed not to change under commonly issued terms of  10, 20, or 30 years – even right to age 100! Carrier can increase the premium at its discretion.

UNDERWRITING TIME

Prior to issuing you a policy, an insurance company will ask questions they feel are relevant and review your application. This provides peace of mind that your claims will be paid as you expect. Underwritten at the time of claim. It’s possible for your claim to be denied because your medical condition was not reviewed until after you made the claim.

See this CBC Marketplace story for more details.

BENEFIT PAYABLE UPON DEATH OF HUSBAND OR WIFE

Each policy pays a separate death benefit to the estate. This provides extra funds for children or dependents. Coverage is joint for you and your spouse and is a balance of the mortgage.

transferable

Insurance stays with you, even if you refinance, purchase a new home, or change lenders. If you move, the insurance ends, and you will need to re-qualify.

BENEFIT LEVEL

You can adjust the coverage over time to match your needs (your premium will adjust accordingly). As you pay it off, your coverage decreases and will end when your mortgage is paid off. This is often at an age when qualifying for new insurance can be hard.

ADVICE

Dealing with a licensed insurance broker (like Brio Insurance!) you can get advice anytime. Not available.
