Brio Insurance to close on September 30 for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
We have made the decision to close all branches and operations on Thursday, September 30, for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
“After discussing the matter with our diversity, equity, and inclusion committee, board of directors, and executive team, as well as listening to the Indigenous community, we decided to close our operations on September 30 and every September 30 thereafter,” said Ed Bergen, President + CEO.
“We feel that staff should take the day to recognize and reflect on Indigenous culture and honour residential school survivors in a way that is suitable for them.”
In addition to educational resources being made available for our staff and our growing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we hope this decision will encourage staff and clients in our branch communities to wear orange, shop at Indigenous-owned businesses, and find additional ways to better understand and support reconciliation efforts.
Normal business operations will resume on Friday, October 1.
